| |
NHBTI is committed to ensuring the creation and expansion of public transportation infrastructure in New Hampshire, specifically in the “New Hampshire Capitol Corridor,” which will stimulate the economy and offer genuine and continuing economic benefits. |
| |
| |
Organizational Purpose and Economic Goals |
| |
NHBTI’s purpose is to promote the development and implementation of a plan
to establish a modern efficient transit system for New Hampshire as part of a comprehensive transportation network that will spur the common business interests of the members of the organization as well as generally benefit the surrounding communities. With passenger rail as the foundation, the system will improve the economic and business infrastructure for companies and provide positive returns on capital investments as well as social and environmental benefits. Specifically, NHBTI aims to achieve the following measurable goals: |
| |
| |
To provide a twenty-first century transportation infrastructure that is a foundation for economic prosperity and security within the state. |
| |
To ensure that investment in transportation creates significant
and measurable economic stimulus, providing the basis for ancillary development in real-estate, commercial ventures and public services. |
| |
To create a system that is self-sustaining, paying for itself through a measureable increase in economic activity and local revenue sources. |
| |
To provide transportation options that attract and retain young workers, by providing facilities that allow young people to continue to live and work locally. |
| |
To assist the regeneration of our towns and cities, help our communities become destinations in their own right, and provide for smarter growth by creating transportation hubs that are the centerpiece of livable, walkable, economically sustainable, vibrant communities. |
